Ingredients
  

For the lasagna
  • 2 cans cinnamon roll dough The kind that pops open.
  • 4 medium-sized apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are recommended.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar For extra sweetness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts Optional, but adds crunch.
  • 1 cup icing Comes with the cinnamon rolls.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and slice your apples, then toss them into a mixing bowl with brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Mix until the apples are generously coated.
  3. Open the cinnamon roll cans and set the icing aside for later.
  4. In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, place a layer of cinnamon roll pieces at the bottom.
  5. Spread half of the apple mixture over this layer, followed by another layer of cinnamon roll pieces. Top with the rest of the apples and finish with a final layer of cinnamon rolls.
Baking
  1. Place the baking dish in the oven and let it bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
  2. Let it sit for a few minutes before drizzling with icing.
Serving
  1. Cut into squares, serve warm, and enjoy!

Notes

This dessert can also be made with pears instead of apples. It freezes well, so consider making a double batch.
