Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully combined.
Baking
  1. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place them onto greased cookie sheets.
  2. Flatten them slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the edges are just turning golden.
  4. Let them cool on the pan for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Frosting and Decorating
  1. Mix the confectioners' sugar with tiny amounts of water until thick enough to spread but thin enough to drizzle.
  2. Use the frosting to decorate your cookies as festively as you like.
