  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk Can substitute with milk + vinegar.
  • 0.5 cups vegetable oil Ensures a moist cake.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water Helps create a moist cake.
Mix-ins
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped Optional based on preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
  3. Add in the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix well using a mixer or whisk.
  4. Gently fold in the chopped walnuts.
  5. Stir in the boiling water to create a moist batter.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased and floured cake pan.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a richer experience, consider adding a creamy chocolate frosting. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
