Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda For leavening
  • 1 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter Softened to room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar Packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Pure vanilla recommended
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature
Mix-ins
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Semi-sweet or milk chocolate

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  3. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week. For extra chewy cookies, under-bake them slightly.
