  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, along with the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
  2. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing in nuts or dried fruit. You can turn this into a layered cake with frosting in between.
