  • 1 can (12 oz) Cherry Dr. Pepper (or diet version)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, Cherry Dr. Pepper, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth.
  3. Carefully fold in the cherry pie filling until evenly distributed.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan and bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a cherry on top.

Notes

Chilling the cake enhances the flavor. Consider adding almond extract or a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra taste.
