For the stromboli
  • 1 lb pizza dough store-bought or homemade
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 0.5 cup pepperoni slices
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 each egg for the egg wash
For dipping
  • to taste Marinara sauce optional, but highly recommended

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle about 12 x 14 inches.
  3. Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the dough, leaving a small border. Add the pepperoni slices and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
  4. Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough up, tucking in the sides as you go. Place seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Whisk the egg and brush it over the top of the stromboli.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

Feel free to swap out the pepperoni for your favorite toppings, such as sautéed veggies, ham, or crushed red pepper. Serve with warm marinara sauce for dipping. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days.
