Main Ingredients
  • 1 medium head cabbage, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Feel free to substitute with other spices like cumin or chili powder.
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
Optional Ingredients
  • 1 squeeze lemon juice For added zing.
  • to taste red pepper flakes For a spicy kick.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Chop the cabbage into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and let it warm up.
Cooking
  1. Add the sliced onion and let it soften for about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the minced garlic and stir until fragrant for another minute.
  3. Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and sprinkle with paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir to coat the cabbage.
  4. Cover the skillet and let the cabbage steam for around 10-15 minutes, stirring once or twice.
  5. Once tender but still crunchy, taste and adjust seasoning. Add lemon juice and red pepper flakes if desired.
  6. Serve on a plate as a side dish or pair with grilled chicken or tofu.

Notes

This dish keeps well in the fridge for up to three days. It gets even better the next day!
