Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet instant yeast (2¼ tsp)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup warm water (around 110°F)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted for dough
Filling Ingredients
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened for filling
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley for garnish, optional

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Gradually pour in the warm water and melted butter. Stir until combined, then knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a dish towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
Filling and Shaping
  1. While the dough is rising, mix the softened butter with minced garlic in a small bowl.
  2. Once your dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
  3. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the dough and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  4. Roll the dough tightly, from the longer side, to form a log.
  5. Slice the log into even pieces—about 1.5 inches wide. Place these rolls into a greased baking pan, leaving space between them.
  6. Cover the rolls and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until they’re golden and the cheese is bubbly.
Serving
  1. Sprinkle the rolls with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

These rolls freeze beautifully! Store in an airtight container once they’re cooled. You can also substitute all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for a healthier option. Reheat leftovers in the microwave or oven.
