Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1.5 cups warm water (between 100°F and 110°F) Ensure the water is not too hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour Plus extra for the work surface.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Helps activate the yeast.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir and let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add the flour, olive oil, and salt into the frothy mix and stir to combine.
  3. Mix with a wooden spoon or by hand until it forms a shaggy ball.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic, adding more flour if sticky.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm area for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  6. After rising, punch down the dough, divide into two balls, and rest for 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (or the highest setting).
  2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  3. Transfer to a pizza stone or baking sheet, add sauce, toppings, and cheese, and bake for about 12-15 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.

Notes

For added flavor, sprinkle garlic powder or Italian spices into the dough. If excess dough is left, store it in the fridge for up to three days or freeze it for later use.
