For the Salmon
  • 4 fillets salmon fillets You can substitute with other firm fish
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper Adjust if you’re not a fan of heat
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Lemon wedges For serving

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, mix together paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel and rub the spice mixture generously over each fillet.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the salmon fillets to the skillet skin-side down. Cook for about 4-5 minutes without touching.
  3. Flip the fillets carefully and cook for another 3-4 minutes until cooked through and charred.
Serving
  1. Gently remove the salmon from the skillet and serve with fresh lemon wedges.

Notes

Ensure fish is dry for a golden crust. Adjust spice levels for picky eaters. Watch the heat to prevent burning spices.
