Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth Substitute with chicken or vegetable broth if needed.
  • 1 cup heavy cream For a lighter option, consider using half-and-half.
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Feel free to adjust according to taste.
  • 1 package (9 oz) cheese tortellini Frozen tortellini can also be used.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Or use a mix of dried herbs.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to preference.
  • for garnish Fresh parsley Optional, for a pop of color.

Method

Cooking
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble the ground beef and add the chopped onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent, around 5-7 minutes. Ladle out any excess grease.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for one minute until fragrant. Pour in the beef broth and stir well, scraping up any bits stuck to the skillet.
  3. Lower the heat and add heavy cream, Italian seasoning, and a generous pinch of salt and pepper. Stir until well combined, and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Introduce the tortellini to the sauce, stirring gently, and let it cook according to package directions (usually about 3-5 minutes) until tender and coated in the sauce.
  5. Sprinkle in the grated Parmesan cheese and stir until melted. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. Serve garnished with fresh parsley, if desired.

Notes

Cooking tips: Don't rush sautéing! Brown bits add flavor. Consider swapping out for ground turkey or chicken. If the sauce is lumpy, a quick whisk can smooth it out.
