Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4-5 pounds beef ribs
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce your favorite brand or homemade
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
Spice Rub
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: your choice of additional spices (e.g., chili powder)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your grill to medium heat or oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and any optional spices.
  3. Coat the beef ribs with olive oil and rub your spice blend all over them.
Cooking
  1. For grilling: Place the ribs directly on the grill. Cover and cook for about 2.5 – 3 hours, flipping halfway.
  2. For the oven: Wrap seasoned ribs in aluminum foil and bake for about 3 hours for tender results.
  3. In the last half hour of cooking, brush BBQ sauce on the ribs and allow it to caramelize.
Serving
  1. Once cooked, remove ribs from heat, let them rest a few minutes, then serve.

Notes

For a smokier flavor, marinate your ribs with a dry rub overnight. If you can't handle heat, leave out hot spices.
