Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Wash and peel the carrots, and trim the ends. Optionally, slice them into longer sticks.
Wrapping the Carrots
- Take one slice of bacon and wrap it around each carrot. Use toothpicks to secure the end if necessary.
Preparing the Glaze
- In a small bowl, mix the maple syrup, olive oil, brown sugar, salt, and pepper.
- Drizzle this mixture over the wrapped carrots.
Baking
- Place the carrots on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the bacon is crispy and the carrots are tender.
Serving
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute. Optionally, sprinkle with chopped fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
Bacon thickness can affect cooking time—adjust accordingly. Try using other vegetables like asparagus or zucchini with this technique. For a spicy kick, add cayenne pepper to the glaze.
