For the sandwich
  • 2 slices slices of your favorite bread Sourdough, whole grain, or gluten-free
  • 1 medium ripe avocado Make sure it’s perfectly ripe
  • 1/2 cup fresh mozzarella, sliced Use fresh mozzarella for best flavor
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter Use butter if feeling indulgent
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • optional Fresh basil leaves Highly recommended for added flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients and make sure the avocado is perfectly ripe.
  2. Slice your mozzarella and tomato, and set them aside.
The Avocado Mash
  1. Scoop out your avocado and mash it with a fork, leaving a few chunks for texture.
  2. Season the avocado with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Assemble the Sandwich
  1. Spread the mashed avocado evenly on one side of a bread slice.
  2. On the other side, layer the fresh mozzarella and tomato slices.
  3. If using, tuck in a few basil leaves for extra flavor.
Cooking
  1. Place the other slice of bread on top and heat a skillet over medium-low heat.
  2. Add olive oil (or butter) to the pan and let it sizzle.
  3. Carefully place your sandwich in the skillet to achieve a golden-brown color while melting the cheese.
Finishing Touches
  1. After 3-4 minutes, check if it's golden and crispy before flipping over to toast the other side.
  2. Once both sides are golden and the cheese is melted, remove from heat, slice in half, and enjoy!

Notes

Choose a sturdy bread that can hold all the filling. You can add ingredients like bacon or turkey. Monitor the heat while using butter to avoid burning.
