  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce Can use flavored applesauce for variation.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Brown sugar can be used for a deeper flavor.
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil Coconut oil can be substituted.
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances flavor.
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Brings fall vibes!
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Optional Add-Ins
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts or raisins Add for extra texture and flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the unsweetened applesauce, sugar, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Stir gently to blend.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
  5. If using, fold in chopped nuts or raisins into the batter.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Cooling
  1. Once baked, allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Wrap the bread tightly in plastic wrap and store at room temperature for up to 3 days. It also freezes well—just slice, wrap, and freeze for quick snacks later.
