Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup almond meal that's where the magic happens!
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract the more almond, the better!
  • a pinch salt
  • to taste sliced almonds for decoration optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (about 175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, powdered sugar, almond meal, and a pinch of salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the creamed butter, along with the almond extract. Mix until well combined.
  5. Dust your counter with some flour, and roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Use star-shaped cookie cutters to cut out your cookies.
  7. Arrange the cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet and sprinkle sliced almonds on top if desired.
  8. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

If the dough feels too crumbly, add a teaspoon of cold water. You can dip half the cookie in chocolate or drizzle icing on top. Taste the dough before baking—but don't get caught!
