- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease/flour your cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until well mixed.
- Add the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry mix. Stir until combined and smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack. Serve as-is or top with powdered sugar or frosting.
Notes
Mix in a splash of coffee or yogurt for an interesting twist. This cake can also be enjoyed for breakfast when topped with yogurt and berries. You can double the recipe for a larger gathering.
