Description
A comforting and hearty chili inspired by Wendy’s that is quick and easy to prepare, perfect for busy evenings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: shredded cheese and sour cream for topping
Instructions
- Brown the meat: In a large pot, heat over medium-high heat and add in your ground beef. Cook it until it’s browned, stirring to break it up—about 5-7 minutes.
- Sauté the veggies: Add diced onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the pot. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, roughly 3-4 minutes.
- Combine the ingredients: Stir in the crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, pinto beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer the chili: Bring your mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 25-30 minutes.
- Serve it up: Ladle it into bowls and garnish with shredded cheese and a dollop of sour cream if desired.
Notes
For a thicker chili, let it simmer longer or use a potato masher to break down some of the beans.
