Description

A creamy and savory classic tuna pie that combines nutritional tuna with a flaky crust, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (5-ounce) cans of chunk light tuna in water, drained
  • 1 cup frozen peas and carrots, thawed
  • 1/2 cup celery, finely diced
  • 1/3 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 premade pie crusts (9-inch)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Drain the tuna thoroughly and chop all vegetables.
  2. Combine the drained tuna, peas and carrots, celery, and onion in a bowl.
  3. Whisk together the eggs, mayonnaise, and milk in a separate bowl until smooth, then mix in cheese, dill, lemon zest, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour the wet mixture over the tuna and vegetables, gently folding to combine. Line a pie dish with one crust and add the filling.
  5. Cover with the second crust, trimming excess dough, crimping edges, and cutting slits for steam. Brush with egg wash and bake for 35-40 minutes.

Notes

For added flavor, use Gruyère cheese instead of cheddar. Serve with a fresh salad for a complete meal.
