Description
A creamy and savory classic tuna pie that combines nutritional tuna with a flaky crust, perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 (5-ounce) cans of chunk light tuna in water, drained
- 1 cup frozen peas and carrots, thawed
- 1/2 cup celery, finely diced
- 1/3 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 premade pie crusts (9-inch)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Drain the tuna thoroughly and chop all vegetables.
- Combine the drained tuna, peas and carrots, celery, and onion in a bowl.
- Whisk together the eggs, mayonnaise, and milk in a separate bowl until smooth, then mix in cheese, dill, lemon zest, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the wet mixture over the tuna and vegetables, gently folding to combine. Line a pie dish with one crust and add the filling.
- Cover with the second crust, trimming excess dough, crimping edges, and cutting slits for steam. Brush with egg wash and bake for 35-40 minutes.
Notes
For added flavor, use Gruyère cheese instead of cheddar. Serve with a fresh salad for a complete meal.
