- 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Chocolate shavings or additional caramel for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- Mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl until well blended.
- Add the milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture and mix until smooth.
- Stir in the boiling water carefully until the batter is well combined.
- Pour the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full, and bake for 18-20 minutes.
- Cool the cupcakes completely, then remove the center of each and fill with caramel sauce.
- Beat the softened butter until creamy, then gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing well.
- Add milk and vanilla to the frosting mix until smooth, then pipe or spread on the cupcakes.
- Decorate with additional caramel and chocolate shavings if desired.
Notes
Optional additions include espresso powder for richer chocolate flavor or sea salt on caramel for a sweet-savory twist.
