Description
A quick and easy tuna tart that can be made in under 30 minutes using simple pantry staples.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pre-made puff pastry sheet (thawed if frozen)
- 2 cans (5oz each) of chunk light tuna, drained
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (gruyère or cheddar)
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon capers, drained
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon dried herbs (thyme, oregano, or herbes de Provence)
- Fresh ground pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Unroll the puff pastry sheet onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Using a fork, prick the surface all over, leaving a 1-inch border untouched.
- Combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice in a medium bowl. Mix gently to maintain texture.
- Spread the tuna mixture evenly over the pastry, layer with red onion slices, sprinkle with capers, dried herbs, and fresh pepper.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly across the top of your tart. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, let rest for 2-3 minutes before cutting. Garnish with fresh herbs and drizzle of olive oil if desired.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, use canned chickpeas instead of tuna. To increase nutritional content, consider adding chopped spinach or arugula.
