Description

A quick and easy tuna tart that can be made in under 30 minutes using simple pantry staples.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pre-made puff pastry sheet (thawed if frozen)
  • 2 cans (5oz each) of chunk light tuna, drained
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (gruyère or cheddar)
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon capers, drained
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs (thyme, oregano, or herbes de Provence)
  • Fresh ground pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Unroll the puff pastry sheet onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Using a fork, prick the surface all over, leaving a 1-inch border untouched.
  2. Combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice in a medium bowl. Mix gently to maintain texture.
  3. Spread the tuna mixture evenly over the pastry, layer with red onion slices, sprinkle with capers, dried herbs, and fresh pepper.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly across the top of your tart. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
  5. Remove from the oven, let rest for 2-3 minutes before cutting. Garnish with fresh herbs and drizzle of olive oil if desired.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, use canned chickpeas instead of tuna. To increase nutritional content, consider adding chopped spinach or arugula.
