Description

The ultimate dessert hybrid combining the rich chocolate intensity of brownies with the classic comfort of chocolate chip cookies.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (42g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (63g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (90g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup (67g) granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup (73g) packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups (156g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup (135g) chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal. Lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Whisk together melted butter and granulated sugar in a medium bowl. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract. In another bowl, sift together cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  3. Cream softened butter and both sugars in a large bowl until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes). Add egg and vanilla, beating until well incorporated. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough on top, distributing as evenly as possible.
  5. Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs. The top should be golden brown.
  6. Cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes. For cleaner cuts, refrigerate for an additional 30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For extra fudginess, don’t overmix your brownie batter. Use a warm, sharp knife for clean cuts.
