- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup buttermilk

- A pinch of salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter (for frosting), softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- Zest and juice of 1 orange

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add in the eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add this dry mix to the wet ingredients, folding in the orange zest.
- Line a cupcake pan with liners and fill each about 2/3 full with batter. This should make about 12 cupcakes.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the cupcakes cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Beat the frosting butter until fluffy. Gradually add in the powdered sugar.
- Add heavy cream, orange juice, and vanilla extract to the frosting, mixing until smooth.
- Frost the cooled cupcakes with the delicious orange frosting.
