Description

Ingredients

🌾 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
💧 1 cup warm water
🍚 1 tsp sugar
🧂 1 tsp salt
🍞 2 tsp active dry yeast
🫒 1 tbsp olive oil
🍅 ½ cup tomato sauce (San Marzano recommended)
🧀 1 cup fresh mozzarella (sliced or torn)
🌿 Fresh basil leaves
🫒 Optional: Extra olive oil for drizzling


Instructions

Prepare the dough: In warm water, dissolve yeast and sugar. Let it sit 5–10 mins until foamy.
Mix and knead: Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix, knead for 8–10 mins until smooth.
Let it rise: Cover and let dough rise for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
Preheat oven: Heat to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, preheat it as well.
Shape and top: Roll out the dough, spread tomato sauce, layer mozzarella, and add basil.
Bake: Place on a baking sheet or stone and bake 10–12 mins, until golden and bubbly.
Serve: Drizzle with olive oil and enjoy warm!

Notes

For extra crispiness, use a pizza stone or steel.
Let the dough ferment in the fridge overnight for deeper flavor.San Marzano tomatoes give the most authentic taste.
